Decree Law No. 37/2025 introduces important amendments to two pieces of legislation, namely Law No. 14 of February 21, 2024, on the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Italy and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania, and to Legislative Decree No. 286/1998 (the so-called Consolidated Law on Immigration) on the enforcement of deportation. Pending its conversion into law, the decree, in its current structure, aims to strengthen the action of repatriation of third-country nationals irregularly present in the national territory by applying the competence on repatriation to centers located in Albania, outside the national territory and the European Union.
