Micaela Messina
Enthusiastic and curious, with a strong passion for people and their rights. After years of training and various work and study experiences abroad, I chose to devote my legal profession to the protection of people. I have collaborated with various international organisations, in Italy and abroad, dealing with unaccompanied foreign minors and international protection, also working in the field in various border and transit areas for asylum seekers. Today I advise on immigration and international protection for associations and government agencies. In the corporate field, I support private companies, attentive to sustainability and ESG principles, dealing with domestic and foreign contracts and human rights due diligence, with the aim of preventing and mitigating the impact of business activities on people and the environment. I believe in a law based on respect for human dignity and environmental protection.
Having always been attracted by the international dimension of the legal profession, I have dedicated my professional training to immigration law, human rights and the monitoring and evaluation of development cooperation projects in the European Neighbourhood. I have worked in various border areas both in Italy and abroad for international and European organisations, and I strive daily to ensure that the legal protection of the most vulnerable translates into fuller and more accessible rights protection for all. I currently offer multilingual legal assistance and advice to private individuals and governmental and non-governmental entities, and I collaborate daily with consulting firms to support the implementation of European projects on migration and human rights, so that best practices in migration protection and governance are applied globally.

Putting people and their needs at the centre has been the driving force of my professional life. I am a qualified lawyer, researcher and expert on migration and human rights, with a professional career dedicated to advising, protecting and defending vulnerable migrants. Over the years, I have gained specific expertise in gender-based violence, human trafficking, labour exploitation and child protection. I have worked in the field and have experience in dealing with national and international authorities. I have held positions with several international organisations and public bodies in Italy.
Mettere al centro le persone e i loro bisogni è stata la forza trainante della mia vita professionale. Sono un avvocato qualificato, ricercatore ed esperto di migrazione e diritti umani, con una carriera professionale dedicata alla consulenza, alla protezione e alla difesa dei migranti vulnerabili. Nel corso degli anni, ho acquisito competenze specifiche in materia di violenza di genere, tratta di esseri umani, sfruttamento del lavoro e protezione dei minori. Ho lavorato sul campo e ho esperienza nei rapporti con le autorità nazionali e internazionali. Ho ricoperto incarichi presso diverse organizzazioni internazionali ed enti pubblici in Italia.
